BFW provided design services for the full reconstruction of the eastbound and westbound lanes along a 10.77-mile stretch of Interstate 64, from the Washington County line to just east of Shiloh Drive near Mt. Vernon, IL in Jefferson County. The project focused on improving pavement durability, safety, and overall corridor performance while maintaining the existing roadway configuration.
Project Highlights:
• Full reconstruction of eastbound and westbound lanes with new 10.75″ jointed concrete pavement over existing mainline
• Median and outside ditch improvements to enhance drainage and provide safer clear zones
• Tie-in transition design at the County Highway 9 (Woodlawn Lane) interchange
• Reconstruction work at ten structures, including overpasses and at-grade locations
• Replacement of subgrade, sub-base, and pavement to meet clearance and bridge grade requirements
This project delivers a smoother, safer driving experience while extending the life of a key transportation corridor.
