- Bachelor’s in civil engineering with structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- Engineer In Training or ability to obtain same within 6 months.
- Experienced with design codes, 3D analysis software, REVIT.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes, standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
- Preparation of specifications, drawings, construction plans, design, and layout for building structures.
- Utilize computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.
- Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents.
- Attend and participate in client meetings.

BFW is seeking a land surveyor (licensed SI) for our Marion, Illinois office. This individual will assist the Professional Land Surveyor and others in providing land surveying services.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying or a related science
- Licensed as a Surveyor Intern (SI)
- Compensation will be based on skill level and experience
Desired Skills:
- Ability to accurately complete detailed work
- Knowledge of Autodesk and/or Bentley software is preferable but not required
- Strong spoken and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Essential Job Functions:
- Measure, record, and calculate data for surveying projects
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment
- Research survey records
- Preparation of surveying and engineering drawings from sketches, field notes, verbal descriptions, and specifications
- Communicate decisions with supporting documentation to project managers
- Work under the supervision of a Professional Land Surveyor to prepare several types of survey drawings

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- 3 -5 years of experience in Preliminary Engineering Phase I & II (planning and design) for Roadway Projects
- Current Engineer In Training or the ability to obtain the same within 6 months
- Familiarity with OpenRoads CADD design platforms
- Knowledge of TDOT and KYTC design standards and methods preferred.
- Experience with highway drainage design procedures preferred but not required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Planning and design of urban and rural roadways, site developments, and stormwater management/drainage design
- Investigate field conditions as well as read and comprehend as-built drawings, construction specifications, client base standards, and technical information to develop drawings
- Develop plans and related documents from engineering input; perform necessary mathematical calculations and prepare details and other related requirements as part of the overall bidding/construction document package
- Utilize MicroStation, Power Geopak V8i Powered by OpenRoads Technology, and other related design software applications for required for plan production

- Knowledge of industry-standard computer software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Estimating/Project Management type software
