BFW is seeking a full-time Accountant/Accounting Specialist to join our Paducah, Kentucky, accounting/finance team.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Time management skills.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Working closely with project managers to set up, maintain, and perform monthly revenue recognition, billing, and financial analysis related to projects.
  • Compile, research, and analyze data and reports to assist in achieving performance goals.
  • Maintain project contracts, supplemental agreements, task work orders, etc.
  • Review project status, including project job costs, billing, and performance, applying accounting principles.

Project Manager/Phase III Manager

Springfield, IL

BFW is currently seeking a seasoned Professional Engineer to lead our Phase III Construction Engineering practice in Springfield, Illinois.

US 45 Bypass-Saline, Gallatin & White Counties, IL

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) or related field
  • Illinois Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 10+ years of transportation construction engineering experience, including IDOT Phase III work. Experience as a Resident Engineer preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • IDOT Construction Manual & Standard Specifications
  • Documentation of Contract Quantities
  • Materials and inspection requirements
  • CMMS
  • Proven leadership in managing construction engineering teams
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with agencies and contractors
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites across Illinois

Essential Job Functions:


  • Lead & Develop the Team – Mentor resident engineers, inspectors, and technicians while building a high-performing Phase III group.
  • Oversee Project Delivery & Operations – Direct construction inspection, contract administration, and day-to-day field activities while managing schedules, budgets, staffing, and quality across multiple projects.
  • Ensure Technical Excellence & Compliance – Uphold IDOT standards (Construction Manual, BLRS Manual, Standard Specifications) and serve as the firm’s technical authority on Phase III practices, documentation, and systems (ICORS/SiMA).
  • Manage Documentation & Field Coordination – Review pay estimates, change orders, and project records while resolving field issues and coordinating with contractors and resident engineers.
  • Build Relationships & Support Growth – Serve as a trusted partner to IDOT, local agencies, and contractors while contributing to business development and industry engagement.

Geotechnical Driller 

Paducah, Murray, and Bowling Green, Kentucky

BFW is seeking a Geotechnical Driller Assistant for our Paducah, Murray, or Bowling Green, Kentucky.

 

US 45 Bypass-Saline, Gallatin & White Counties, IL

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of geotechnical drilling experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and heavy equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License required (CDL preferred).
  • Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to lift 80+ lbs and perform labor-intensive tasks.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:


  • Operate and maintain drilling rigs and equipment for geotechnical test borings.
  • Collect and document soil and rock samples for analysis.
  • Assure that all drilling functions, including quality control, quality assurance, and verification, are performed in accordance with the standard drilling methods, project specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Responsible for safety procedures and following company guidelines.
  • Lead and coordinate in-house drilling operations, including crew supervision, scheduling, and daily field execution
  • Support a positive team environment by modeling professionalism, accountability, and respectful communication.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain via reciprocity)
  • 5+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:


  • Lead geotechnical projects from planning through completion, including scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables
  • Serve as the primary technical and project point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal teams
  • Perform and oversee geotechnical analyses, designs, and interpretation of field and laboratory data
  • Plan and manage subsurface exploration programs and coordinate field operations and resources
  • Prepare, review, and seal professional geotechnical engineering reports
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to business development and client relationship efforts
