Originally constructed in 1914, the historic Citadel has stood as a landmark on the downtown square in Marion, Illinois, for more than a century. Today, the building has been thoughtfully transformed into Ethos at the Citadel, a vibrant mixed-use destination that blends historic character with modern functionality. Working alongside Baysinger Architects, BFW/Marcum was proud to help preserve the building’s legacy while supporting its next chapter through comprehensive engineering design.
BFW/Marcum provided:
- Structural engineering
- Mechanical (HVAC) design
- Electrical design
- Plumbing design
- Fire protection design
- Lighting design
- Power distribution design
- Fire alarm design
By combining thoughtful engineering with respect for the building’s historic architecture, our team helped create a space that serves today’s community while honoring its rich past. Ethos at the Citadel stands as an example of how collaboration and innovative design can breathe new life into historic buildings, ensuring they continue to make an impact for generations to come.
