This HSIP project entailed a 6.25-mile upgrade of Pittsburg Road to provide 4’ HMA safety shoulders, upgraded guardrail, pavement repairs, inlaid pavement striping, and RPMs throughout the entire length of the project. This project involved completing all required IDOT BLRS Phase I LAFO documents along with completing the necessary contract plans and special provisions in compliance with IDOT policies.
Additionally, the project required a structural hot mix asphalt overlay designed in one thick lift surface to provide suitable thickness on the job. BFW staff were instrumental in writing the grant to secure the HSIP funding for this project.
