To enhance the curb appeal of the Curris Center at Murray State University, Marcum Engineering was tasked with renovating the mechanical and electrical infrastructure in various areas throughout the building, while keeping the building occupied with limited shutdowns. The main welcome center and lobby received LED lighting upgrades, while the restrooms on all floors where completely overhauled with new lighting and plumbing fixtures and brought up to ADA compliance. The challenge to keep code minimum plumbing fixtures in service required detailed coordination and phasing for restrooms on each floor to keep the building occupied throughout the school year. To compete with other universities, a new E-sports gaming area was created on the lower level which required power, lighting, data, and HVAC improvements.
