Madison County Emergency Operations Center
Richmond, Kentucky – Madison County

The Madison County Emergency Operations Center required an addition to provide space for the Emergency Management Agency/Chemical Stockpile Preparedness Program which required 12,000 square feet to be added to the current 28,000 square foot facility in Richmond, Kentucky. To ensure the safety of the community in the unlikely case of a chemical disaster, the program will provide Madison County and the surrounding areas with a disaster preparedness program which is essential during the demilitarization of the nearby Bluegrass Army Depot Chemical Stockpile. For the renovation and addition, Bacon Farmer Workman (BFW) and Marcum Engineering provided the structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design. The new addition will be able to withstand up to 200 mph wind gusts, operate for 24 hours per day for seven days a week, and provide additional facilities such as:
- Living quarters
- Lounge areas
- New truck bays
- Emergency operations room
- Upgraded kitchen
- Staff offices
- Training room
- Upgrades to power supply
- Utilities
- Technology systems
Also, the new addition will house the local Fire Department, the E-911 Center, and the Ambulance Center. BFW and Marcum are proud to have enhanced Madison County Emergency Operations Center capabilities, resources, and durability to better serve its community in the case of any emergency.
