BFW provided professional engineering and environmental permitting services to the City of Cape Girardeau so that ADA compliant sidewalks could be constructed from Kingsway to Marie Louise. This project included crosswalks at the busy Kingshighway/Cape Rock Drive intersection, upgrade to traffic signals to provide audible/tactile pedestrian push button detection system with signal cabinet upgrade module, and drainage system improvements.
Additional project improvements included construction of a dedicated right turn lane along Kingshighway in front of Andy’s Frozen Custard as well as improvement/enlargement of the existing right turn lane near the First Missouri State Bank. Modifications to the existing underground stormwater drainage system were part of this right turn lane improvement. The existing continuous highway lighting system was upgraded as part of this project to meet current MoDOT standards for islands at signalized intersections.
