The Jackson East Main Street Sidewalk Project consisted of 2515 feet running with East Main Street between Bellevue Street and Shawnee Street in Jackson; it was funded by the TAP grant and cost a rough total of $503,000. To create a more accommodating structure and finish the project, Bacon Farmer Workman (BFW) provided all engineering services such as:
- Environmental and cultural clearances
- Production of design and right of way plans
- Support of advertisement, bidding, and award
- CEI including construction administration
- Materials testing
- Inspection
The project included improvements and additions such as:
- Grading
- Sidewalks
- Curb ramps
- Paved approaches
- Retaining walls
- Pedestrian handrails
- Drainage structure modifications for an American with Disabilities Act compliant facility
BFW is proud to have created a more accessible environment and provide a safer area for pedestrians as the improvement closes a gap in available pedestrian facilities between Jackson’s Historic Uptown area and the rapidly developing East Elementary School area near Interstate 55.
