Dr. Howard Elementary School

Champaign, IL

Lead by RATIO Architects, Bacon Farmer Workman (BFW) collaborated on the Dr. Howard Elementary School project which required replacing the old school building and grounds on the same location. Dr. Howard Elementary School is a K-5 school with 345 students currently enrolled; the new building and grounds are a part of the $183.4 million referendum passed on Nov. 8th, 2016. BFW provided the structural design for the project. The new school building respects the design of the old building while featuring many new resources such as:

  • Flexible classroom spaces with a modern layout
  • Naturally lit collaboration areas
  • Gymnasium which serves as a Storm Shelter rated for an EF-5 tornado

Nestled in the beautiful west side residential area of Champaign, the New Dr. Howard Elementary will successfully service the community for many years to come. BFW is proud to have assisted in extending their capacity to serve and protect their students.
