The BFW/Marcum internship program is designed to provide hands-on experience and professional growth for aspiring engineers. Interns are seen as investments in the future of the company, and many have transitioned into full-time roles.
Highlights from Past Interns
- Geoff Rotherham: “My internship at BFW helped me better understand how I wanted to use my degree once I left college and how what I learned in college translated to the real world. Now, working as a full-time employee, my time as an intern has helped me adjust to working in this capacity.”
- Elijah Arterburn, PE: “My internships at BFW and Marcum Engineering were pivotal in my career decision, providing essential insights into the engineering field. These experiences were the first steps toward obtaining my Professional Engineer license in Kentucky. My time at Marcum Engineering was particularly critical, offering invaluable hands-on experience and a clear perspective on my career options. Now, as a Professional Engineer, I appreciate the importance of offering similar opportunities to new interns each summer.”
- Cole Griggs: My Internship at BFW/Marcum was very helpful to me in deciding my future engineering pathway and advancing my knowledge of the field. The team provided me with a hands-on learning pathway, that of an everyday engineer. I was made available insight and various programs not taught in education that would end up being very useful to me as I progress further into the discipline. Over the course of the internship at BFW I was able to decide that not only the field was the right fit for me, but that the time spent was invaluable to my progression into the engineer I am today.
- Bryan Atkins: I was fortunate to get an opportunity to start as an intern 16 years ago. I was able to get an understanding of this side of the engineering field and see that what we do is something I enjoy. Since then, we have been able to bring on several interns and now I get the opportunity to help them learn and grow and they have taught me a thing or two. The internship program gives both BFW/Marcum and the intern a chance to see if we are a good fit for each other. It definitely has worked out well for me.
A Program Built for Success
The program emphasizes learning both in the field and through structured mentorship, ensuring interns develop both technical skills and professional competencies. BFW/Marcum’s commitment to our interns’ growth is evident in the number of interns who have stayed on as full-time employees, contributing significantly to the company’s projects and culture.
