Electrical Engineer

Marcum / Bacon Farmer Workman Engineering is looking for an experienced, licensed Electrical Engineer (PE) to help shape the future of our commercial and light industrial projects. This role can be based in our St. Louis, MO; Belleville, IL; or Lexington, KY.

US 45 Bypass-Saline, Gallatin & White Counties, IL

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering 
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • Valid Driver’s License in the state of residence

Essential Job Functions:


  • Take ownership for designing and specifying electrical systems for commercial and light industrial projects, consisting of power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, emergency power, and special systems, for the purpose of bidding and construction
  • Prepare written technical specifications, perform code reviews, and stamp all documents requiring certification
  • Design using AutoCAD and Revit as needed for plan production
  • Oversee, check, and stamp electrical drawings for compliance with Illinois and Kentucky regulations
  • Focus on client relationships by demonstrating strong performance and creative solutions to meet the clients’ objectives
  • Serve as a resource, leader, and mentor for the other engineers and designers within the department

Traffic Engineering Technician

Cape Girardeau, Missouri

BFW is seeking a Traffic Engineering Technician for our Cape Girardeau, Missouri, location.

Education/Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in electronics, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with roadway signs, markings, or traffic signals preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License in state of residence

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:


  • Install, monitor, and remove traffic data collection equipment in the field.
  • Process traffic data and prepare counts, summaries, and reports.
  • Create existing‑conditions traffic schematics using DOT data and graphics software.
  • Assist with building base and proposed traffic models using industry software.
  • Compile and organize crash data for safety analyses.
  • Populate and verify Excel‑based traffic analysis spreadsheets.
  • Finalize conceptual traffic graphics for reports, studies, and public materials.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Strong interest in marine, waterfront, coastal, or heavy civil infrastructure
  • Solid analytical, communication, and technical writing skills
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate, and grow in a team environment
  • Valid Driver’s license in state of residence

Essential Job Functions:


  • Support the planning, analysis, and design of port, harbor, and waterfront infrastructure projects
  • Assist with engineering calculations, preparation of plans, specifications, and technical reports
  • Collaborate with Civil, Structural, Transportation, Geotechnical, and Environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, conceptual layouts, and development of opinions of probable cost
  • Participate in project meetings, agency coordination, and client discussions as part of the design team
  • Assist with construction-phase services, including submittal reviews and field observations

Inspector – Construction Engineering & Inspection

Springfield, Illinois

BFW is seeking a full-time Construction Engineering & Inspection Specialist to our Springfield, Illinois team.

 

US 45 Bypass-Saline, Gallatin & White Counties, IL

Qualifications:


  • Associate degree in civil engineering technology, Construction Management, or a related field, or 3+ years of Construction Engineering & Inspection.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various construction sites as needed.

Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with engineering plans, specifications, regulations, best practices, and safety standards.
  • Monitor construction progress and quality, identifying and resolving issues and deviations from project plans.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve construction challenges and ensure timely project completion.
  • Document and report inspection findings, including any non-conformities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of construction project documentation, including progress reports and inspection logs.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings to provide technical insights and recommendations.
