Entry-Level Marine/Port Design Engineer
Paducah, Kentucky
BFW is seeking a Entry-Level Marine/Port Design Engineer for our Paducah, Kentucky, office.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Strong interest in marine, waterfront, coastal, or heavy civil infrastructure
- Solid analytical, communication, and technical writing skills
- Willingness to learn, collaborate, and grow in a team environment
- Valid Driver’s license in state of residence
Essential Job Functions:
- Support the planning, analysis, and design of port, harbor, and waterfront infrastructure projects
- Assist with engineering calculations, preparation of plans, specifications, and technical reports
- Collaborate with Civil, Structural, Transportation, Geotechnical, and Environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects
- Contribute to feasibility studies, conceptual layouts, and development of opinions of probable cost
- Participate in project meetings, agency coordination, and client discussions as part of the design team
- Assist with construction-phase services, including submittal reviews and field observations

Inspector – Construction Engineering & Inspection
Springfield, Illinois
BFW is seeking a full-time Construction Engineering & Inspection Specialist to our Springfield, Illinois team.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in civil engineering technology, Construction Management, or a related field, or 3+ years of Construction Engineering & Inspection.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various construction sites as needed.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with engineering plans, specifications, regulations, best practices, and safety standards.
- Monitor construction progress and quality, identifying and resolving issues and deviations from project plans.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve construction challenges and ensure timely project completion.
- Document and report inspection findings, including any non-conformities, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in the preparation and review of construction project documentation, including progress reports and inspection logs.
- Participate in project coordination meetings to provide technical insights and recommendations.

Geotechnical Driller Assistant
Paducah, Kentucky
BFW is seeking a Geotechnical Driller Assistant for our Paducah, Kentucky, location.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and heavy equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License required (CDL preferred).
- Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including overtime as needed.
- Must be able to lift 80+ lbs and perform labor-intensive tasks.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Assist and work with the lead driller in moving, setting up, operating and maintaining drilling rigs and related equipment used to drill holes for geotechnical testing to determine site soil characteristics.
- Help the driller with the collection of data and samples in the field under direction of the crew chief.
- Promote and adhere to safe work practices for self, the lead driller, and others.
- Complete daily reports of drilling and driving activities.
