Maritime Ports Civil Engineer/Project Manager
Paducah, Kentucky
BFW is seeking a Maritime Ports Civil Engineer/Project Manager for our Paducah, Kentucky, office.
Qualifications:
- Civil or Mechanical Bachelors’ Degree from an ABET- accredited college or university or related BS degree
- 5-8 years in Port or Maritime Experience
- Working knowledge on design and coordination of grading, water distribution, sanitary systems, stormwater, conveyance, joint reinforced concrete, and rail design as it relates to public, private, and commercial riverports
- Working knowledge on design and coordination of grading, water distribution, sanitary systems, stormwater, conveyance, joint reinforced concrete, and rail design as it relates to public, private, and commercial riverports
- Experience in designing and master planning for developing new & existing waterways ports and infrastructure
Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate with the Civil team to provide bidding, procurement, and construction processes for port projects
- Serve as the technical ports lead within the Civil team to create deliverables, master planning, project quantities, timelines, schedules, and cost estimation within technical memorandums and reports
- Work within a team or independently to develop relationships with clients and provide technical port or maritime presentations on projects
- Assist in business development efforts and client relations
- Perform and review design deliverables in partnership with design team

Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant experience in the design of building structures.
- Bachelor’s in civil engineering with structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- Engineer In Training or ability to obtain same within 6 months.
- Experienced with design codes, 3D analysis software, REVIT.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes, standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
- Preparation of specifications, drawings, construction plans, design, and layout for building structures.
- Utilize computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.
- Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents.
- Attend and participate in client meetings.

Land Surveyor
Marion, Illinois
BFW is seeking a land surveyor (licensed SI) for our Marion, Illinois office. This individual will assist the Professional Land Surveyor and others in providing land surveying services.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying or a related science
- Licensed as a Surveyor Intern (SI)
- Compensation will be based on skill level and experience
Desired Skills:
- Ability to accurately complete detailed work
- Knowledge of Autodesk and/or Bentley software is preferable but not required
- Strong spoken and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks
Essential Job Functions:
- Measure, record, and calculate data for surveying projects
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment
- Research survey records
- Preparation of surveying and engineering drawings from sketches, field notes, verbal descriptions, and specifications
- Communicate decisions with supporting documentation to project managers
- Work under the supervision of a Professional Land Surveyor to prepare several types of survey drawings

BFW is seeking a Civil Transportation Engineer for our Cape Girardeau, Missouri location.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with aspirations to become a licensed Professional Engineer
- 0-5 years of experience in Preliminary Engineering Phase I & II (planning and design) for Roadway Projects
- Current Engineer In Training or the ability to obtain the same within 6 months
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Planning and design of urban and rural roadways, site developments, and stormwater management/drainage design
- Investigate field conditions as well as read and comprehend as-built drawings, construction specifications, client base standards, and technical information to develop drawings
- Develop plans and related documents from engineering input; perform necessary mathematical calculations and prepare details and other related requirements as part of the overall bidding/construction document package
- Utilize MicroStation, Power Geopak V8i Powered by OpenRoads Technology, and other related design software applications required for plan production
