G.C. Burkhead Elementary School
Elizabethtown, Kentucky – Hardin County
The new, energy efficient, and modern G.C. Burkhead Elementary School project was a new build in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and includes classrooms, media, gym, cafeteria, kitchen, and administration offices. Marcum Engineering provided mechanical and electrical design for features such as:
- Low water consumption plumbing and efficient variable pumping system
- All non-corrosive HDPE, hydronic piping
- 176 well geothermal field
- Ground Source Heat Pump HVAC System
- 2 GSHP Dedicated Outside Air Systems with total energy recovery
- Energy conserving and kitchen ventilation systems
- Web-based DDC HVAC control system
- 2,000 AMP power distribution system with a 150 KW standby emergency generator
- Efficient T-5 and LED lighting systems
- Clock, door access control, and IP CCTV systems
- Addressable fire alarm and video door intercom systems
